Daguerreotype portrait of Joseph Cushing (1806-1879), a Baltimore publisher and bookseller. In 1832, he married Ann MacKenzie (1811-1853), daughter of Colin MacKenzie of Baltimore. Their children were: Sarah Pinkerton (1834-1924), married Thomas J. Morris; Joseph MacKenzie (1835-1902); Colin (1837-1838); Ann (1838-1920); and Wiley Edmands (1841-1903), married Emily Grace Marriott.
