Pitcher

Description

Creamware pitcher with bulbous form and black transfer printed designs on front and sides. Front bears the motto "SUCCESS TO THE INFANT NAVY OF AMERICA" inside a wreath. One side bears images of the shipbuilding process from tree to finished ship with words of poem beginning "Our Mountains are cover'd with Imperial Oak." The other side depicts a naval battle between the American frigate, Constellation, and the French Frigate, L'Insurgent, above a description of the Constellation's success.
