Watercolor on paper drawing of "Masons or Dirt Daubers, Details of Hymenoptera", July 15, 1796, from the Latrobe Sketchbooks, by Benjamin Henry Latrobe. This detailed sketch shows various views of mud hives, known as "dirt daubers" or "mud daubers", and several views of the wasps that build them. He sketched these views while at Rippon Lodge, home of Colonel Thomas Blackburn (1742-1807), near Dumfries, Virginia.
