Description

Daguerreotype portrait of Sarah Agnes Kummer (1830-1872), a Baltimore school mistress. Orphaned as a teenager, she became the governess to the family of Augustus Albert, Esq., of Baltimore, and later opened a succession of female academies in the city. She never married.
