Portrait of Dr. John James Graves

Description

Daguerreotype portrait of Dr. John James Graves (1800-1890), a Baltimore physician. A native of New York, he practiced there for three years before moving to Baltimore in 1830. In 1831, he married Ann Jones Baker (1804-1878), daughter of William Baker of Baltimore. Their children were: Roswell Hobart (1833-1912), married Jane Norris; William Baker (1835-1915), married Emily Wight; John James (1837-); Henry Montfort (1839-); Anna Melissa (1845-1877); Olivia Elizabeth (1847-1891); and Annie Jane (1849-1859).
