Sword

Description

Sword, curved blade, found by George Bayer merchant tailor of Baltimore who visited friends near battlefield found sword 3 days after the Battle of Gettysburg. This is likely a Yataghan Sword Bayonet that attaches to a pattern 1853 Enfield rifle. These types of sword bayonets were produced in England and Germany. It was likely carried by a Confederate soldier during the Battle of Gettysburg.
