Jacobs--a wealthy Worcester County, Maryland planter, state legislator, and ardent supporter of slavery--and entitled The free negro question in Maryland : slavery and free Negroism incompatible -- the doctrine of equality exposed and refuted -- origin of abolitionism in this country and its aims -- vast disasters attending free negroism every where -- Maryland must enslave or expel her free negroes or consent to be ruined by them -- white slavery at the north : and the general designs of the abolitionist to abolish negro slavery, and substitute white slavery in its stead, as is now the case in monarchial Europe -- able letter of Col. C. W. Jacobs on this all absorbing question.
