Suit

Description

Men's twill weave morning suit. Lined with silk twill and closes with resin buttons. Although no information survives regarding the original wearer of this dark green plaid suit, stamped on the jacket’s inside pocket is “Paul Edel, Costumer, Baltimore, Md.” Edel owned a shop on 204 West Monument Street, directly across from the Maryland Historical Society, where he rented out the historic clothing he collected, such as this 1890s suit, as “costumes for all occasions.”
