Weekday visitor parking is available at the Franklin Street Parking Garage, just a few minutes’ walk from our main entrance. For your convenience, you may book a spot ahead of your visit online through the garage website. Validation slips for the garage are available at our Visitor Services desk but may only be used for walk in, day of visits. There is also free and metered parking available in the surrounding neighborhood. Limited onsite parking is available on the weekend only in our parking lot located off W. Monument Street between North Howard Street and Park Avenue.

The following directions will get you to our main entrance at 610 Park Avenue:

From I-95: Take Exit 53 (I-395) to Martin Luther King Boulevard. Right on Druid Hill Avenue (W. Centre Street). Left on Park Avenue.

From 83 South: Take the Maryland Avenue exit and turn left onto Maryland Avenue. Maryland Avenue merges with Cathedral Street. Follow Cathedral Street and turn right on Monument Street. Turn left on Park Avenue.

From Downtown Baltimore/Inner Harbor: Go north on Charles Street, staying in the left lane. Turn left on Franklin Street. Turn right on Park Avenue.

From Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, or BWI via train: The Maryland Center for History and Culture is half a block from the Light Rail’s Centre Street stop, which connects with MARC trains to Camden Station and Penn Station, as well as Amtrak trains to Penn Station.

We are conveniently located adjacent to the Light Rail Centre Street stop, and along the free Charm City Circulator Purple Route.

We are close to many other museums and attractions in the Mount Vernon neighborhood. If you are walking, please use the main visitor entrance located at 610 Park Avenue between W. Monument Street and Centre Street, which is half a block from the Mount Vernon Marketplace and two blocks from the Washington Monument.

The main entrance for visitors is located in the Meyerhoff Courtyard off of Park Avenue. The school tour entrance located along the 200 block of W. Monument Street between Park Avenue and Howard Street.

Elevators are available to access each floor of the building that is open to the public. A limited number of wheelchairs are available, free of charge, at the Visitor Services Desk.
